**Admission Requirements for Universities in Malta: A Comprehensive Guide**

When considering applying to universities in Malta, it's crucial to be aware of the specific admission requirements that pertain to your chosen institution and program. Although these prerequisites may vary, the following are general guidelines that international students often need to fulfill to gain admission:

  • Research and Choose Programs: Identify the universities and programs in Malta that align with your academic and career goals. Research the program details, entry requirements, and application deadlines.
  • Academic Qualifications: Generally, applicants should have completed their secondary education at a level equivalent to the Maltese Matriculation Certificate. This typically involves meeting specific grade and subject prerequisites tailored to your intended program.
  • Language Proficiency: As English serves as the primary language of instruction in many Maltese universities, a strong command of English is essential. Most institutions accept internationally recognized language proficiency tests like IELTS or TOEFL. The required scores can differ based on the program and institution. Few Universities can also accept foreign students without any language proficiency test.
  • Application Form: Begin the application process by completing the official application form available on the university's website or application portal.
  • Passport-sized Photos: A few passport-sized photos might be required for identification purposes.
  • Educational Certificates/Diplomas: Copies of relevant certificates or diplomas indicating the completion of your secondary education or any higher education qualifications.
  • Personal Statement or Letter of Motivation: Certain programs may request a personal statement or letter of motivation, outlining your reasons for selecting the program and illustrating how it aligns with your career objectives.
  • Application Fee Payment Proof: A copy of the payment receipt for any application fees required by the university.
  • Portfolio (if applicable): Creative programs such as art, design, or architecture may necessitate a portfolio showcasing your creative work and achievements.
  • Entrance Examinations (if applicable): Specific fields or universities may mandate entrance exams pertinent to your chosen area of study.
  • Visa Requirements: Non-EU/EEA students may need to secure a student visa. Requirements for this could include an acceptance letter from the university, proof of financial capability, a criminal certificate, and comprehensive health insurance.

Admission Criteria for Non-EU Students

Non-EU/EEA students can obtain admission to universities in Malta by following these simple & quick 3 steps.

STEP 1: HOW TO OBTAIN AN OFFER LETTER?

To get a conditional offer letter issued by the university, we require the following documents:

  • Copy of International Passport.
  • Copy of High School Certificates.
  • Copy of Bachelor's Degree (if the student is applying for a Master’s degree).

Students can send us the above-mentioned documents through Email, Whatsapp, IMO, Botim, Viber, or Telegram. Our admission department will apply to the preferred university, get an offer letter & send it back to the student.

STEP 2: PAY YOUR UNIVERSITY FEE

Following the issuance of a Conditional Offer Letter from the university, international students will be requested to proceed with the tuition fee payment by transferring the specified amount to the university's designated bank account.

Upon successful completion of the payment, students are kindly advised to promptly furnish their tuition fee receipt to our dedicated admission officer. This step is integral, as it facilitates the subsequent stages of our process. Subsequently, upon receiving the fee receipt, we will apply for the application for official Acceptance Letter and Visa Sponsor Letter. The issuance of these documents can take up to 30 working days.

STEP 3: APPLY FOR THE VISA

Once the Visa letter is issued, international students should apply for a National Long Stay Visa (D-Visa) to Malta. Applying for a student visa in Malta as a non-EU student involves a series of steps. Here's a general guide to help you navigate the process:

Receive Acceptance & Visa Letter: Before applying for a student visa, you need to have an official Acceptance Letter from a recognized educational institution in Malta. This letter confirms your admission to a program of study.

Gather Required Documents:

  • Passport-sized photos meeting the specified requirements
  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and return travel

Applicants must present their student visa application at one of the submission points indicated below:

  • At the premises of an authorized External Service Provide (VFS Global, etc)

Pay Application Fee: Pay the visa application fee as required by the embassy/consulate. Keep the payment receipt as proof.

Wait for Processing: Visa processing times can vary. It's advisable to apply well in advance to allow sufficient time for processing. Usually processing time for Malta Student Visa takes around 20-25 working days.

Receive Visa Decision: Once your application is processed, you will receive a decision on your student visa application.

Collect Visa: If your visa application is approved, you'll be notified by the embassy/consulate to collect your visa. Make sure to follow their instructions regarding collection.
